Privacy Policy
The Lost Tourist (Barcelona and other city editions) · Last updated: 22 May 2026
The Lost Tourist ("the app", "we", "us") is published by Thorium Labs.
We built the app to be private by design: there are no accounts, no logins, and we do not
collect names, emails, or any data that personally identifies you. This policy explains the
limited data the app uses and the third-party services involved.
Information we process
- Location (optional): If you grant location permission, your device's
location is used on your device to show your position on the map and to trigger
"near you" alerts when you approach an attraction. Your location is not stored on
our servers and not shared. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in
your device settings; the rest of the app keeps working.
- Ratings you submit: When you rate a place, we store the star value, the
attraction id, and a timestamp in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), keyed to a random,
app-generated device identifier. This identifier is not linked to your identity
and is used only to let you update your own rating and to compute community averages.
- Saved places & language preference: Stored only on your device
(local storage); never transmitted to us.
We do not collect contacts, photos, files, or advertising identifiers, and the
app does not currently display ads.
Third-party services
The app relies on these services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Maps Platform & Places API (maps, place details and photos) —
Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore (storing anonymous community ratings) —
Firebase Privacy.
- Pexels (royalty-free imagery loaded over the network) —
Pexels Privacy.
- GetYourGuide (affiliate ticket links) — opening a "Book tickets" link sends
you to GetYourGuide in your browser; we may earn a commission. See
GetYourGuide Privacy.
- On-device text-to-speech for audio tours, handled by your device's own TTS
engine.
Data sharing & selling
We do not sell your data. We do not share personal data with third parties for
advertising. The only data leaving your device is the anonymous rating described above.
Children
The app is intended for a general travel audience and is not directed at children under 13.
Data retention & your choices
Anonymous ratings are retained to keep community averages meaningful. Because they contain no
personal information, they cannot be traced back to you. If you would like a device's ratings
removed, contact us at the address below and provide the request; we will delete them.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last
updated" date above.
